Are you familiar with the piano or the violin? Most people would say yes. But if we mention the oboe or clarinet, many might not recognize them. We love woodwind music, we play it, and we are very proud of it. Our mission is to raise awareness about woodwind instruments and introduce more people to the joy of music through these unique instruments, showcasing their special qualities.
Woodwind instruments, from the clarinet and oboe to the flute and saxophone, offer a rich diversity and versatility that add depth and beauty to music. Our goal is to share the enchanting world of woodwind music with people of all ages, emphasizing the distinct and beautiful sounds these instruments bring to the overall musical experience.
Through educational programs, community outreach, and live performances, we aim to inspire a new generation of musicians and music enthusiasts to discover and appreciate the woodwind family.

Sylvia is a high school student from New Jersey. Beginning her musical journey at age four with piano and picking up the oboe at nine, Sylvia is now a dedicated participant in the prestigious Juilliard Pre-College Program, where she excels as an oboist.
At Juilliard, she plays in the Pre-College Symphony (PCS) and various chamber music ensembles, often serving as the first oboist in PCS concerts. In 2023, Sylvia played second oboe with The Asian Cultural Symphony of the USA at Bryant Park and Alice Tully Hall of Lincoln Center, distinguishing herself as the Symphony's youngest member. She has also won first place at the Charleston European Music Competition and a silver medal at the International Young Artists Competition.
Sylvia wants to share her love of oboe music with more people because she believes its enchanting melodies and intricate harmonies have the power to inspire the listeners, bringing a sense of beauty and joy to their lives.
Beyond music, Sylvia is a passionate and accomplished ice dancer. She has won numerous national titles and secured gold medals in international competitions representing the United States.
Brianna Tang is a student at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and
Performing Arts, as well as a current saxophone major at The Juilliard School preparatory Division, specializes in four instruments: alto, soprano, alto, tenor saxophone, and the piano.
Brianna has cultivated her musical talent, affinity, and love, for her craft from a very young age of 5 years old. Since her initial involvement, she proceeded to receive substantial musical stipends, scholarships, and professional mentoring to further her passion, and has worked with multiple organizations, the most notable being the Juilliard school, The New York Pops, WorldStrides, the Anthony Bianchi B- Bridge Japan Exchange Program, etc.
She has won first prizes in more than twenty international music competitions, such as Music International Grand Prix, and the Little Mozart International Youth Music Competition. Brianna has performed in all corners of the world, from her home city of NYC at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and Kaufman Music Center to the Sydney Opera House in Australia, Royal Albert Hall in London, and Nagoya Theater in Japan.
Brianna has put her energy into volunteering at Clove Lake Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, New York Pops Kids on Stage, etc. She hopes that, through Woodwind Melodies she can continue her work in creating more opportunities for other young musicians to reach the same access to resources as she has been given.
Olivia Gu has played the clarinet for 7 years and bass clarinet. Performing at renowned venous such as Alice Tully Hall, David Geffen Hall, Bruno Walter Auditorium, and Peter Jay Sharp Theatre. She is grateful for all the opportunities she has received so far.
She attended the NYSBDA Honor Band in 2022 and All County for the past 5 years as a vocalist and a clarinetist. In the summer of 2022, she also attended New England Music Camp, where she performed in an honor recital, selected by a panel of their prestigious faculty. At school, Olivia has played in the pit for her school's musical and opera productions. She also plays in her school's Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, and Symphony Orchestra. For the last 3 years, Olivia has been studying the clarinet under the Juilliard preparatory Division. In addition to the clarinet, she also sings a soprano in the Juilliard MAP chorus.
She hopes to share her love for music with the global community through acts of community service.
Marina Li, a talented student from New Jersey, learning to play oboe at age eight. Currently, she studies oboe under Dr. Lillian Copeland in the Music Advancement Program (MAP) of the Juilliard School.
At Juilliard MAP, Marina has distinguished herself as the first oboe in various Wind Ensemble and Orchestra concerts. She also had the opportunity to perform at David Geffen Hall in Lincoln Center, in a side-by-side performance with professional musicians from the NY Philharmonic. Marina has also excelled in music competitions, winning first place at the Best Vivaldi Performance competition and second place at the Charleston European Music Competition.
Marina loves oboe for its rich, expressive tone and its ability to convey a wide range of emotions. She aspires to introduce more kids to explore the world of oboe music.
Outside of her musical pursuits, Marina is an avid and accomplished figure skater. She has won multiple medals at national competitions and a spot at the US National High-Performance Development Team
